Abstract

The 1919 American Military Mission to Armenia, led by Maj. Gen. James G. Harbord, was tasked by the U.S. government to investigate conditions in Transcaucasia and Asia Minor. The resulting report, Conditions in the Near East, detailed the political, military, and humanitarian situation to help determine the feasibility of a U.S. mandate over Armenia
