Abstract
This study bridges the history of the Crusades with the history of Armenian nationalism and Christianity, focusing on the medieval Anatolian kingdom of Cilicia. The Christian Armenians of Anatolia and Asia Minor represented the only reliable allies for the Crusaders, and as such were pivotal in the founding of the Crusader principalities of Edessa, Antioch, Jerusalem and Tripoli
