Abstract

Tumanyan was one of the most widely read Armenian writers. With the help of self-education, the study of a huge number of scientific and artistic books, the poet, who did not finish school, became publicist, literary critic, and author of scientific research. The proof of Tumanyan’s great love for the book is his personal library of 10.000 items. Tumanyan became a symbol of book giving. The birthday of the great poet, February 19, is enshrined in the history of Armenian culture as the Book Giving Day.
