Abstract

The June 18, 2008, House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing, "The Caucasus: Frozen Conflicts and Closed Borders," examined US policy regarding regional conflicts, specifically in Georgia (Abkhazia/South Ossetia) and the Armenia-Azerbaijan (Nagorno-Karabakh) dispute. The hearing addressed the impacts of blockades, such as Turkey's closure of its border with Armenia, and sought to address long-term regional stability
