Abstract

Moses of Chorene was a 5th-century Armenian historian renowned for writing the "History of the Armenians" at the behest of Prince Isaac Bagratuni. Often called the "father of Armenian history," his work merges early Armenian history, legends, and genealogy using Greek, Persian, and Armenian sources. He identifies himself as a pupil of Mesrop Mashtots, the creator of the Armenian alphabet, placing him within the golden age of Armenian literature. His masterpiece, Patmowtʻiwn Hayots (History of the Armenians), covers Armenian history from the earliest times to the 5th century AD
