    The purpose of this article is to introduce into the scientific circulation the results of a research work of the Russian State Library (RSL) with the aim to study use of Internet technologies in the work of public libraries. As result of the research, the main directions of internetization of librarianship were identified and the problems hindering the development of this process were listed. Special attention in the course of the study was paid to the analysis of development of remote user service.

    Thus, in the context of the cultural heritage of Artsakh, the importance of the mission of libraries was emphasized. Artsakh is known for its writing centers, handwritten magazines, printing houses, published books, press, etc. In different historical periods there were many libraries in Artsakh. Libraries were also severely damaged during the wars, as evidenced by statistics and other data.The role of the National Library of Armenia was great in replenishing the literature of various libraries of Artsakh. A group of library staff held discussion seminars in various libraries of Artsakh. It is important to note that at the initiative of the NLA, work has begun on the Dspace platform to create a database called “The Endangered Heritage of Artsakh.” The website of the Artsakh Electronic Library, which is a project of the association of young scientists and specialists of Artsakh (AYSSA), contains scientific and analytical information about Artsakh., educational and artistic materials in Armenian, Russian and English.

    Բեյրութի «Ազդակ» օրաթերթը՝ հայապահպանության կենտրոն

    We briefly touched upon the Armenian-Arab relations, the Armenian community of Lebanon, the Lebanese Armenian press, in particular the daily newspaper “Azdak.” Armenians settled in Lebanon under the dictates of historical and political circumstances. They created their respective community structures, printed the Armenian press and so on. The periodical “Azdak” covers various topics. The Armenian Press database is also available on the website of the National Library of Armenia, which also contains bibliographic data of Armenian periodicals published in Lebanon. There is a link “read online” where digital copies of periodicals are available.

It also plays a big role in popularizing print culture.

    Public libraries play an important role in promoting education, research, personal development and other important values. A society cannot flourish without proper education and a developed edu-cational and library system. Library legislation is the basis for creating a network of public libraries organized in any coun-try. It ensures the management of the library and creates a stable financial basis for quality library ser-vices. The legislation also serves to protect the rights of library users. The study of the library legisla-tion of different countries is useful for making necessary changes and additions to the legislation regu-lating the RA library sector.

    The relevance of this article is due to the fact that the information explosion, the digital age pre-sents us with a completely different set of tools, provided services and mechanisms, and the develop-ment of activities with a new logic. The article refers to the significance and role of the library sector in the life of 21st century societies. In the era of information explosion, one of the greatest challenges of the library sector is the influence of artificial intelligence, which reduces the importance of the hu-man factor. Thus, the circumstance of the librarian carrying out a function in the library is reduced incomparably, despite the fact that the reader gets any information he needs, saving space and time. This conjuncture gives rise to deep thinking among representatives of the library sector. In this case, each library should study the inter¬national experience, prospectively repeating what is useful, which will only improve the latter's work. This should be done taking into account a number of features of what kind of library we are dealing with, national, academic, scientific, children's, etc. However, with good library management, the right strategy and the necessary resources, it is possible to turn challenges into favorable conditions, taking advantage of new and limitless opportuni-ties.

    Գրիգոր Խալդարյանցը և տպագրական գործը Ռուսաստանում

    The first Armenian printing house in Russia was founded in 1780 by Grigor Khaldaryants, who moved it from London to St. Petersburg. After the death of Khaldryants, in 1789, Hovsep Arghutyan, the spiritual leader of the Armenians of Russia, moved the printing house to New Nakhichevan, and in 1796, to Astrakhan. During its existence, the printing house published about forty-five books on reli-gious, educational, and historical topics. Getting acquainted with the twenty-year existence and effective work of the Khaldaryants printing house, it becomes obvious that his activity served Hovsep Arghutyan for the common interests of the nation, which he had a desire for. In the 18th century, one of the leaders of the Armenian diocese in Russia, Archbishop Hovsep Arghutyun, being in a foreign country, Hovsep Arghtyun, a representative of a stateless country, with his education and enlightened ideas, was able to unite the Armenian people and make them presentable. Printing was a way to connect Russian-Armenians to the Armenian Church, raise their liberating spirit, and shape their worldview. The Armenian printed book, including Russian-Armenian printing, was the expression of Armenian self-assertion and striving for survival. It occupies an honorable place in Armenian culture with its unique face.

    By combining the abilities and skills of ours and our partners abroad, bringing together the past experience, making the search for new ways a priority, pursuing the realization of our aspirations and goals, promoting the establishment of cooperation among as many libraries as possible, we can bring a number of library directions outlined above to a new milestone. In any case, consolidation, dedication, hard work, the vein to strive, to search for new and advanced, sufficient will has no alternative for us, in the context of overcoming disagreements and technical problems, the ability to face inadequate ex-ternal opinions and convince otherwise.

    Խաչատուր Աբովյանին նվիրված ոչ գրքային հրատարակությունները Հայաստանի ազգային գրադարանի արվեստի բաժնում

    The article presents the non-book publications dedicated to Khachatur Abovyan in the art de-partment of the National Library of Armenia. The first original oil painting of the great enlightener was made around 1831. In autumn by the Dorpat artist Ludwig von Meidel. Later, hundreds and thousands of examples were drawn and printed from that blueprint, which are widely used among Armenians. In addition to a large collection of photographs, the art department of the National Library of Armenia preserves exclusive original paintings, postcards, calendars, guides devoted to Abovyan, which are of great value for study.

Aligning with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) introduced in 2017, libraries, including the National Library of Armenia, contribute significantly by promoting literacy, ensuring free information availability, and fostering safe and inclusive spaces. The integration of libraries into the SDGs is rooted in their role as primary suppliers of information, supporting the broader goals of sustainable development.

    The beginning of the Armenian printed book is a new era for Armenian writing and literature. It has completely inherited all the traditions of manuscripts. Remember that throughout the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries, printed and handwritten literature coexisted and served the public. Ancient books, like manuscripts, have handwritten remarks by historical masters, library inventory numbers, and other different kinds of notes in the margins, on free pages. Seals hold equal significance to these. In addition to being a unique source for printing, the compilation of handwritten and library notes found in the National Library’s ancient books is also an excellent source for research on history in general, and culture history in particular.

    The publications of the National Library of Armenia for the last five years have come to reaf-firm the fact that the library actually ensures the continuity of the 85-year-old tradition of compiling and publishing bibliographical and methodological manuals and has secured its place and unmistaka-ble handwriting in the Armenian publishing field. At the same time, advanced and innovative ap-proaches of foreign libraries, modern methods and materials for creating publications are studied and used in compiling and publishing bibliographies. Currently, preparations are being made for the publi-cation of a series of book-albums representing the various collections of the library.

    Հայաստանի ազգային գրադարանի նյութերի թվայնացման նոր փուլը (OCR)

    Optical character recognition (OCR) is the process of converting an image of text into a machine-encoded text format. For example, when we scan a form or document, the computer saves the scan as an image file. A text editor cannot be used to edit, search, or count words in an image file. OCR helps convert an image into a text document and content is stored as text data. Optical character recognition (OCR) provides the added functionality of being able to edit and search these documents. Such data can be used for analysis, optimization, process automation and productivity improvement. It saves time and reduces errors. We inform our thousands of users that the OCR-passed digital collections of old and new digitized periodicals, editions dedicated to the anniversaries of periodicals are replenished thanks to daily hard work. As of 26.10.2023 #armocr #ocr has received around 93,691 PDFs or 1,496,939 pages: newspaper, magazine, abstracts, NLA publication. These repositories can serve as a unique online library of educational resources.

    Հայերը և հայկական մշակութային ժառանգությունը հայկական Արցախում

    The Armenians of Artsakh and its famous center Shushi has always been and will continue to be the center of attention of Armenian and foreign Armenian scholars. From that point of view, the article made a scientific reference to the coverage of a number of important issues of contemporary im-portance: the statistics of Armenians who have permanently lived in Shushi and in Armenian Artsakh in general, the Armenian cultural heritage created in Artsakh for centuries as an integral part of Arme-nian national culture, the fate of the libraries and books endangered by the wars that took place in re-cent decades. For this purpose, a comparative analysis of the used sources was performed, the results of which have historical, bibliographic, librarian and educational significance.

    At different stages of the development of civilization, the languages that could make the transi-tion to the new technologies of science and communication have flourished and developed. The article discusses several conceptual issues dedicated to the issue of the continuity of Armenian written culture and introduces the steps towards the digitization of Armenian, both taken and anticipated. Armenian written culture, from epigraphy to the present state, is the result of the concerted efforts of scientists who are dedicated and deeply aware of the challenges thrown by time and their supporting governors and businessmen. We must create conditions so that our language gets the opportunity to adapt to the changes dictated by the environment and new media and promote it to develop in the new digital con-ditions of communication because it is the direct repository of our linguistic consciousness and self-awareness. In the first part of the article, parallels are drawn between the Industrial Revolution and the stages of written culture development. The second part presents the projects and initiatives that have been launched toward the digitization processing of the Armenian language and corpora.

    The article refers to clarifying the reality of the Armenian Genocide through Syrian films, series, plays, and documentaries. The author studied in this article music and songs showed by syrians in plays such as Mamduh Adwan’s “Days of hunger”, and series like “Brothers of the land” etc. It is noted that by using song and music, Syrian arabs expressed their emotions and point of view toward the terrible and horrifying act of the Armenian genocide.
