The Crime of Christendom, or The Eastern Question (1878) by Daniel Seelye Gregory is a historical analysis of the Ottoman Empire's role in Europe, arguing that European diplomacy allowed Turkey's rule to persist to the detriment of Christian populations, calling it a "crime". It explores the "Eastern Question'' - the status of the weakening Ottoman Empire - from its origins to the 19th-century Balkan crises
